Overview
Recognizing the significance of higher education for Girls in Tamil Nadu, the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme has undergone a major and strategic revamp to specifically encourage the enrollment of girls in higher education.
The State Planning Commission has taken the initiative to evaluate the programme, aiming to gauge its impact on the increased enrollment of girls from government schools in higher educational institutions. The evaluation will also analyse the enrollment patterns across different institutions, such as government and private, professional and arts and sciences, and various educational facilities like colleges, polytechnics, nursing colleges, and paramedical institutions.
This comprehensive study will be conducted statewide on a sample survey basis, to elucidate the benefits accrued by girl children in pursuing higher education and understanding the readiness of families to support their daughters in accessing higher education opportunities.
