Community Dog Policy

The draft policy for community dog management in Tamil Nadu is a comprehensive framework aimed at addressing the issue of dog population growth in the state. The policy takes a holistic approach to this issue and plans to provide a range of control measures to help manage the dog population across all areas of Tamil Nadu.

The policy has been developed to make a safe and healthy environment for both human and dog coexistence. It recognizes the important role that dogs play in our communities, even though huge risks are associated with uncontrolled dog populations. The policy aims to strike a balance between these two concerns by implementing measures that will help to control the dog population while also promoting responsible dog ownership.

Some of the key measures outlined in the policy include the establishment of dog shelters and adoption centers, the implementation of sterilization programs, and the promotion of responsible pet ownership through education and awareness campaigns.
